SSADM4+, the latest version of the established UK systems analysis and design methodology, is easier to use, more flexible and customizable than its predecessors. Since its first appearance in the 1980s, SSADM has been updated and improved to keep it in step with advances in technology, and to reflect the suggestions and needs of its many users. New techniques have been added as the method has evolved. SSADM is orientated towards finding a solution to a business problem, and offers a set of tools which can be applied to any IS development.;This introduction is intended to clarify the overall purpose of SSADM for new and exising users, and to identify which parts of the SSADM4+ "toolset" are appropriate for particular parts of an IT development.
