Theodore Lothrop Stoddard was an American political scientist, historian, journalist, anthropologist, eugenicist, pacifist. During World War II he spent four months as a journalist for the North American Newspaper Alliance in Nazi Germany, receiving preferential treatment from Nazi officials . He wrote "Into the Darkness" about his experiences durign these four months.
