Publisher's Synopsis
This volume presents the highlights of the first Arheoinvest Congress, held in 2011. Reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the Arheoinvest research platform, the contributions cover a range of approaches to Romanian archaeology, including sections on geoarchaeological analyses of the landscape, topography, settlement dynamics, and natural resources available to prehistoric settlements and Roman-period fortresses; bioarchaeological studies of burial sites and animal remains from prehistory to the 18th century; ethnoarchaeological and experimental approaches to material culture, from craft to house-building; and physical and chemical investigations of ceramics and lithics. The result is a representative survey of archaeological research in contemporary Romania.
