After accidentally foiling a rebellion on the day of her entry exam, Taylor finds herself the recipient of additional trust and privileges as a new employee. Tools she fully intends on using to destroy PanTech from within.
She soon realizes that one of her own biggest obstacles is herself, as she struggles to make friends and open herself up to others. She must accept that no one poses a threat to an organization like PanTech alone, no matter how angry they may feel.
Immersing herself into a new animal study, one that promises to give dogs and cats a human-like intelligence, Taylor realizes the goal of the experiment goes far deeper than she could have ever imagined. All the way to a plot to overthrow PanTech's current leadership, replacing the ruling class of scientists with a military dictatorship.
Knowing that a violent military dictator in power would only make matters worse, Taylor moves to sabotage their plot, and prevent these intelligent animals from being used as mere tools for tyrants.
Can Taylor once again bring herself to protect the very organization her heart burns to destroy?
