Publisher's Synopsis

This is a novel which explores the consequences of an attitude to life which disregards the feelings of other people. It follows the on going relationship between two brothers which were first found in the novel A Ceremony of Innocence by the same author. All the misunderstanding between the brothers from the past are bubbling to the surface in this on going rivalry. Having broken off his relationship with his girlfriend Sue, Mark Brookes sets out to begin a relationship with Jane who he met in Nottingham when he had taken his brother back for his exam board. Jane's father offers him a job in the City of London and a chance to get further qualifications. He has to ask the question of whether he ahs been appointed because of his relationship with Jane or on merit. He is reminded of why he had broken up with Sue over a night of sex with his brother's girl friend when he is given the opportunity to spend a night with Jane's sister even tough he and Jane had agreed to get married. Because of his nature and his sense that every opportunity must be grasped, he never thinks about the affect of his life style on Jane. If she does not know, there is nobody hurt, he tells himself. His innocence is about to be exploded on one fateful day. The book is for adults and contains some explicit sex scenes.
