The finding of yourself is at the very heart of Jesus's teachings in the Gospel of Thomas- they are his own words. Having come to this awareness, you will have learned the way out of suffering, you will find your faith; and I cannot find the words to adequately express the importance of what this means. It is not really a re-making of oneself- it is instead more a process of self- discovery. It is the peeling away of the layers of illusion that we have all taken on to some extent; the illusion of identity which obscures the true self. By and large people see themselves to be unworthy and undeserving, and what you will learn from these teachings is that just the opposite is true. When you come to know the person that you truly are, there will be no deficiency. Jesus teaches in these sayings that the divine is in fact within you, and in everyone. When you look within and find yourself you will realize that you are connected to a greater reality- that those things most important are to be found within. This is the message that he brings in these teachings.
