Publisher's Synopsis

Imaginary Worlds is a collection of short fiction set in imaginary worlds. The stories fall into five distinct categories: business/economic fiction, philosophical/religious fiction, political/military fiction, science/technological fiction, and fantasy/historical fiction. Most of the stories are about working professionals, and deal with their work in human organizations. Included in the business/economic section is Defending your thoughts, a story about a system analyst working for a fashion company, who is having problems at work, and is called in for questioning by the thought police. Included in the science/technology section is The Surveillance State, a story about an organization, Surveillance & Security, that monitors data feeds from organizations (government, business etc.), in order to detect the committing or planning of crimes. The stories are dense and short. Many of the short stories focus on how the characters deal with crisis in their organizations. There is little action or violence, as the stories are realistic. The focus is on how people and organizations solve problems.
