Incomincio dal nome. Molti dei nostri anti chi lo ebbero; ed ora scrivesi Burnetto ora Bru netto (i). Ci� medesimo ho osservato rispetto al Latini; ed io a Burnetto ho preferito Brunetto, si per seguir l'uso, e si massimamente perch� questo � regolare, n'� procedente, siccome l'al t'ro, da storpiatura Infatti dal nome proprio Bru no, che oggi dicesi anche Brunone nacque di rittamente Dil diminutivo Brunetto, che talora si cangi� in Burnetto; come, per addurne esempio, da stromento si fece stormento con leggiera tra sposizione di lettere.
