Publisher's Synopsis
With no direction or clear sense of purpose, Marcus lives each day as if no future existed. Casual sex and drug abuse take up most of his time, leaving him with nothing of substance to hold on to.
Fed up with his drug addiction, Marcus's mother kicks him out of the house-but this only gives him more room to spiral out of control. Nights spent on various couches finally lead to his meeting Franz, an old ex-boxer living on welfare. The two become unlikely friends, and Franz's grand stories of past gambling triumphs lure Marcus into a whole new high-stakes world. Focused on the promise of easy money, Marcus doesn't see that Franz's desolate existence could become his own future.
As Marcus seeks in vain for that elusive sense of purpose, Franz decides it's time to come out of retirement. Together they'll take one last shot at the Montreal Casino, where they'll either make their fortunes or be buried by their mistakes.
A compelling tale of youthful nihilism, Idle Hands depicts a life to be won or lost. Convinced there is nothing to fight for, Marcus may just risk more than he realizes.
