Publisher's Synopsis
The author of "I Want Jumping!" searched for resources and ways to educate others about autism, particularly young children and their parents, after her youngest son's diagnosis. Unsatisfied with what she found, Mrs. Noble decided to write her own series of children's' books to introduce the funny, challenging and "normal" aspects of living with a child with autism. The reader will experience the world as seen through the eyes of an autistic boy named Wade. Illustrations are done from Wade's vantage point and emphasizes the "hyper focus" of images in the center of his visual perspective.
The book aims to demystify autism, create awareness, and most importantly, help children positively interact with those on the spectrum. Terms and definitions widely used in the autism community are also provided in the book in easy to understand language as well as tips for practicing acceptance and inclusion of autistic people. "I Want Jumping!" is the first in a series of books to come from the author on subject of autism and families.
