Publisher's Synopsis
Cees de Wilde describes a long process of healing following his abduction and sexual abuse when he was 11 years old. Presented here are his feelings of depression, sadness, fear and loneliness, in an open and sometimes humorous way. This book revolves around the therapy of a group of twelve men who were abused. Their ultimate goal is to let go of the feeling of being victims, and to reclaim their 'power.' This book gives comfort, is about forgiveness, and about letting go and transforming trauma into positive things like poetry, music and art. It is a must-read for victims, rescuers and (potential) offenders. Following his college training in Cultural Work and MBO Occupational Therapy, the author (1974) worked for 14 years as a labor and art therapist in psychiatry, and for 26 years as a communications specialist at a church. He lives and works as an art photographer in Turkey, where he also runs an art gallery. He exhibits at home and abroad. He performs regularly with his own written and composed poetry programs. He accompanies himself on the guitar and has made two CDs.
