Publisher's Synopsis

‘I Meant To Say is a bewitching pamphlet — sharp, funny and delicately moving. The poems are bright and bristling with empathy, mischief, vivid omens. Myers is skilled at summoning a distinctive atmosphere, then skewering its particulars with descriptions so precise and perfect they give me a shiver of delight.’ Rachel Piercey

‘I Meant to Say is filled with encounters, perfectly captured. It’s like holding a photograph album and turning its pages to find vivid snapshots of family life. Myers skilfully gives us an array of characters described with affection and wit.’ Rebecca Goss

Margot Myers is a Londoner who lives in Oxford, where she works as a bookseller, and first started to write poetry. She studied art history and literature, and has a PhD on fairy tales in nineteenth century culture from Keele University. She loves the surreal, the ironic, the unexpected. Her poems have been published in four Emma Press Anthologies; The Interpreter's House; Under the Radar; Poetry News; Mslexia; and anthologies including The Land Between (The Poet’s House, Oxford) and together with her flash fiction, have been commended or placed in several competitions.
