Nlemchukwu grew up in a rural southeastern town of Ifakala in the Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State, Nigeria. As a young child through the Nigeria-Biafran War of the sixties, he-along with his seven siblings, aging parents, and the rest of a socially virile community-went through all levels of hardship, uncertain days, years of war, and the aftermath thereof.
