English Physicist Amy Hunter, with her engineer husband John, complete their build of Vix - a new type of compact atomic collider - in a laboratory beneath their home in St Lucia. By smashing together atoms in their unique machine they intend to further the research into the nature of time and space. Their discoveries will confound and astonish them, as the beauty and elegance of physics will display the true nature of the cosmos. Elsewhere on the island, a beach seller resurrects - changed - with the singular aim of ensuring the future comes to pass. A future of destruction and extinction. A future where natural disasters may not be what they seem... In Britain, Earth Sciences graduate Robert Birch, passes through his adulthood, befriending the Scottish Industrialist Vic Macken. An arbitrary choice Rob makes will lead him down diverging paths. The path of despair and the path of hope, which will involve a nameless - but enthralling - young woman.
