As Proverbs 18:21 points out, the tongue has the power to bless and curse, to be positive and negative, and to speak life and death. To safeguard our prayers and our spiritual growth, we are admonished in Psalm 34:13 to "Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile."
