Publisher's Synopsis
This is the first title in a series of texts for support workers who wish to obtain the new National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) and Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs). Each book in the series covers skills and standards ("competences") required by health and social care workers to obtain NVQ/SVQ in a given topic. This text aims to help the support worker to work with various age groups. By teaching normal stages and behaviour patterns in human development, it shows how to spot the abnormal and understand the reasons behind a client's actions.
