Jim Griffin was born in Westfield, Massachusetts in 1967, but he grew up in Portland, Oregon. After graduating from Franklin High School in 1985, he spent the next four years serving in the United States Marine Corps, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. After more than fifteen years in the oil industry, he went back to school and earned a degree in management. Jim currently resides in rural Columbia County, a distant suburb of Portland, Oregon.
