East Prussia, currently a part of Poland and Russia, is the birthplace of the Trakehner horse breed. Trakehners are noted for their elegance, athleticism, and adaptability, making them a popular choice for several equestrian disciplines, including dressage, show jumping, eventing, and driving. The Trakehnen Stud, a famous state stud farm in East Prussia founded in the 18th century, is where the breed got its name.
Trakehner horses are known for their exquisite heads, well-arched necks, sturdy bodies, and agile limbs. They are typically between 62 and 68 inches (157 and 173 centimeters) tall (15.2 to 17 hands).
