Publisher's Synopsis
There are lots of misconceptions and wrong ideas about pastors concerning money right now. These errors have reached a stage that light must be thrown into the darkness of the public for better understanding and to stop ignoramuses now venturing into pastoring just with the misplaced hope of making money. These set of people believe that there is easy money to be picked up on the altar of God. But they fail to realize that for any set of fifty pastors they see in flashy cars and houses, there are over fifty thousand pastors out there that have only one pair of shoes and one pair of weather beaten coat and trouser, even after pastoring for more than twenty years. There is no guarantee that being a pastor will automatically make one rich. Lagos is a good example of what we are talking about. Look at your street; how many churches are there and how many of the pastors have "okada' motorcycles, not to talk of cars? In the whole of Nigeria for instance, the popular pastors and televangelists may not be more than a thousand out of over ten or more million pastors. I went to several bible schools and upon graduation, I set up a multi-campus bible school that has enabled me to come directly in contact with over ten thousand pastors. I have ministered to pastors in several nations a fact which those who know me closely can confirm. I found that sometimes, many pastors are not able to pay school fees or register for a conference of a thousand naira only. Sometimes, we are to go on missionary journeys to Cotonou which is Nigeria's next door neighbor and you find many pastors who desire to go but cannot find fifteen to twenty thousand naira to attend without begging. I see pastors every day, begging for food.
