Publisher's Synopsis
When Santa is not well known, the list for presents is not very long. As his fame increases, so does the list. Work begins sooner, then a second workshop is opened, then a third, and even gnomes become workers. Yet the list continues to grow, and work begins earlier and earlier in the year, to no one's satisfaction. And Santa can't deliver it all, so Mrs. Claus and elves and gnomes also drive sleighs, some pulled by flying moose because of too few reindeer. Finally, the breaking point is reached: too many presents to make and not enough sleighs to deliver them. Mrs. Claus suggests asking the parents to help. They readily agree, except grouchy old Mr. Romani, but little Kira Monte helps to bring him around. When the parents have taken over so much responsibility that it looks like Santa's help won't be needed, he is concerned but decides that the time has come for the people of the world to take charge. This is a book for children who are beginning to doubt that Santa is real and for adults who may have been traumatized by concluding that Santa is "just a Big Fat Lie" (which is a Big Fat Lie).
