Publisher's Synopsis
14-year-old Kate has overcome much adversity rising through the cracks of Brooklyn's notorious foster care system: girl gangs, fighting and stealing. Finally, she is placed in a family she likes, is doing well at school and is shedding her tough girl exterior - until she meets Naleejah, the new neighborhood fly-girl, who is popular, fashionable and outgoing. The girls become fast friends, and soon Naleejah is teaching Kate risque ways to snag boys. Slowly Kate begins to unravel - she must decide which path to tread - a bright future or one that could risk loosing her family.
