This book is short and that is very intentional. I don't want to give the impression that homeschooling requires a complex maze of do this, don't do that. Rather than present a set of rules to follow, i want to offer a brief look into the homeschooling lifestyle. I especially want to encourage and uplift beginning secular homeschoolers-who may be inundated with religious-based advice and curriculum at every turn-and let them know they are not alone.

Schooling is teacher-directed, not child-led, but school time should be short enough to allow students free time to play and to pursue their own worthy interests such as handicrafts.
