My mother told me once that duct tape can fix anything except a broken heart. I was nine, and she was using the miracle product to tape two Popsicle sticks to the finger I had jammed playing basketball so I wouldn't die before my father arrived with the car to take me to the doctor. The tape gave the nurse a good chuckle, but seemed to make my dad angry.
With the death of her parents in an accident, Sarah is suddenly thrown from the safe world of bored teenager to the grown up realities of fending for herself. Struggling to survive on the streets of Seattle, she is befriended by a house full of other strays, and thinks she has found her new home. But when grown up complications rise, she realizes just how ephemeral her security is.
