Publisher's Synopsis

Tony is a life long Southern California guy. His wife Mira is from a small town in Texas. He agrees to move back to Texas with her. The day before they leave, he meets Tara. Tara is like Tony in the way that she has a love for movies, and they fall in love the same day. Tony, Mira, and Tony's daughter Rayne move to Texas. Tony has a big culture shock in being a Democrat from Southern California. Mira's father Lorenzo hates people from California and Democrats. He is abusive to his wife. Lorenzo ends up backing Tony when he runs for Mayor and loses. Tony takes a job working at a group home for adolescent sex offenders. He is constantly home sick. It helps when his best friend of many years (Mike) moves out there. Everyone thinks that Mike is either Gay or Hispanic when he is neither. This gives him a bad attitude. Rayne finds love with Evan(a Native American Teenager). She also gets a pet pig name 'Sam'. Lorenzo ends up dying of heart attack. Mike has his heart broke and disappears. Tony develops a temporary drinking problem. Tony and Mira split when it comes out that Mira is pregnant with her cousin Pete's baby. In the end Tony, Rayne and Evan end up back in California. Mike comes back into the picture. Tony helps Mike find Olga(a girl he has thought about since high school) she is unattractive at this point. Tony looks unsuccessfully for Tara. Tara finds Tony. The last line of the book is Tara using Tony's catch phrase that is used through out the book "It Happens!" There is also much more.
