Disguised as a young lad, she journeys through a dangerous land to join the epic tournament. Half a world away in the North States, Calder, a veteran of the territory wars, has vowed to live a peaceful life. When he receives a letter from the gods, summoning him to Mt. August for the tournament, the decision weighs heavily upon his shoulders. Before he can decide, outlaws descend upon his village, leaving tragedy and devastation in their wake. Fueled by revenge and hoping that battle will dull the pain, Calder sets out for Mt. August to win the favor of the immortals by playing their deadly game.
