HE above cut is an accurate picture of our Central School Building. This is, without doubt finest Union School building in Michigan, and was built at a cost of about The building contains more than brick, beside the large amount of stone used in its construction, and is supplied with all the most modern and approved apparatus for heating, ventilation, etc.; while the seats, desks and furniture are the most comfortable and best in use. We have no hesitancy in saying that our Union School stands at the head of all similar schools in the West, the graduates being admitted into the University without question or examination. Besides the Central building, we have four large brick school buildings located in the different wards of the city, for the accommodation of pupils. The number of school children in the city between the ages of five and twenty years, is something over The School Library contains volumes.
