Publisher's Synopsis
This edition of Histoire du Soldat is based entirely on the original 1924 publication, with several significant revisions. The libretto found in the 1924 publication as well as subsequent publications is not included. The reason is to provide a score free of the clutter the libretto causes, giving a conductor a score that is intended to make the task of performing the piece a less daunting task. The original Ramuz libretto in French as well as translations are readily available from other sources and are frankly more useful to performers than the libretto the way it is presented in the original score. Individual parts for this edition are available separately from Zephyrwindmusic in three volumes Volume I: Clarinet and Bassoon, Volume II: Cornet, Trombone, and Percussion, Volume III: Violin and Bass
