Ce meme jour la reine assembla dans le Palais - Royal MM. De Vendome, de Nemours, d'elbeuf d'harcourt, de Rieux de Lillebonne d'epernon, de Candale, d'estrees, de l'hopital, de Villeroi, du plessis-praslin, d'hoquin court, de Grancei, et elle envoya, par leur avis MM. De Vendome, d'elbeuf et d'epernon, prier Monsieur de re venir prendre sa place au conseil et lui dire que, si pour tant il ne le jugeait pas a propos, elle lui _enverrait le garde-des - sceaux pour concerter avec lui ce qui serait ne cessaire pour l'affaire des princes. Monsieur accepta la se conde proposition, et s'excusa de la premiere en termes fort respectueux; mais il traite fort mal M. D'elbeuf qui le voulait un peu trop presser d'aller au Palais Royal. Ces messieurs dirent a Monsieur, que la reine leur avait aussi commande de l'assurer que l'eloignement du cardinal etait pour toujours. Vous verrez bientot que si Monsieur se fut mis ce jour-la entre les mains de la reine, il y a grand lieu de croire qu'elle fut sortie de Paris, et qu'elle l'eut emmene.
