Publisher's Synopsis
Some of the hidden treasures that lie in the heart of a city are brought to light in this story of discovery. The reader is introduced to a rarity among musicians and instruments. Making the bells ring in a Canadian city church tower is the job of Carillonneur Gerald Martindale. The bells and all the mechanisms that enable them to ring are collectively called a carillon. Starting from ground level, we climb with Gerald to the several rooms in the church tower where he works, eventually reaching the level where the 54 bells hang in the bell chamber. The story ends with a description of the neighbourhood where this church stands and the feelings of the carillonneur about his gift to the city.
