When Persis Canfield-Hope finds her grandmother's diaries dating from 1938, she decides it would be fun to follow in her footsteps and cross the great continent of Australia from coast to coast via train. On board, she meets the charming and enigmatic Dane Culver but has no idea that he has a hidden motive in befriending her - one that involves a fabulous and purloined jewel!
