Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from Heralds of a Liberal Faith, Vol. 2

The fourth was May 25, 1825, when the American Unitarian Association was founded by the patient zeal of Ezra Stiles Gannett, James Walker, Henry Ware, Jr., and their friends. The purpose of this Association was in no sense sectarian, but simply to difi'use the knowledge and promote the interests of pure Christianity. Nevertheless, the Association was and still is the expression of the fundamental unity of the free churches allied to the Unitarian movement and their working missionary agency.
