For Liz, it's to be someone different, different from her mother. When Nana's "old friend" Joe, unexpectedly offers her a job at one of his multi-million companies in the city, she is ecstatic! Her dream is closer than she had imagined. The last person she thought would ever help her out gave her a pleasant surprise by coming through for her- her mother! Unfortunately, her perfect haven soon comes crumbling down with the discovery of a deep family secret. Hurt and dismayed, she cuts off all family ties and flees to marry Sean, an eligible bachelor she had met at an uptown party. What follows is a series of self inflicted misfortunes, when she comes to the sad realization that she is her mother's daughter in every sense of the word.
