Henry Vaughan was one of a group known as the 'cavalier' poets because they supported the king during the English Civil War. He was a Welshman, educated at Oxford, and his poetry was influenced by George Herbert. This selection of his poetry has been compiled by an acknowledged expert on Vaughan's work.
