Natasha Carmichael is a 109-year-old half-caste, or child born to a woman fed vampire blood during her pregnancy, of remarkable power. Twenty-six years ago she helped get an invading force of vampires off her coven's doorstep and vanished. When she learns the coven's leader, Rainor, is dying she returns to take over her duties as heir to the coven. At least that is the reason she admits to. Natasha knows that a new half-caste baby was born, violating the peace treaty with the vampires. It is up to her to solve the mystery before the deadly Soong Order decides to solve it by killing every vampire and half-caste in town.
