A scarce Paul Nash dustjacket - though here not an especially good example. The American pilot's account of his wartime exploits - including his capture, shot down behind German lines and imprisoned (fulfilling the latter part of the title).

FIRST EDITION, a few small spots to prelims, pp. [vi], 352, 8vo, original blue cloth, backstrip lettered in black (probably second issue, also seen stamped in silver), publisher's device to lower board stamped in black, the backstrip with patches of fading at ends, slight lean to spine, light spotting to edges, the flyleaf with a section torn off at head, dustjacket designed by Paul Nash, faint pink stain at head of rear panel, spotting to white areas, chipped at extremities with sections of loss at ends of backstrip panel (that at head encroaching to front panel and removing first letter of title), some internal tape repair to folds, the flaps spotted, fair condition
