Publisher's Synopsis
Kayoko is at Takahashi's parents' house, after they've told their son that she's not worthy of marrying into their family. Kayoko starts to leave, and tells Takahashi that she wasn't really serious to begin with. They get in a huge fight in his parents' yard, and his mother remarks that perhaps Kayoko is actually the ideal wife for Takahashi, since she can accept his violent outbursts that he has every 5 to 10 years, after years and years of holding his emotions in check. Kayoko leaves and plans on never seeing Takahashi again. 3 months later, Kayoko is still working at the hostess bar with Masae and a girl named Elly. Elly one day suddenly confesses her love for Kayoko, and tells her she wants to go out with her. Kayoko is shocked, but surprisingly receptive to at least the idea of it. Another girl who works at the bar named Tamaki gets in a fight outside the bar with Masae when Tamaki starts going out with the manager, Masae's boyfriend. Masae ends up in the hospital, and Elly and Kayoko find out at the hospital that she's pregnant. Masae decides to move back home to have her baby, and Kayoko is left homeless again. Elly invites her to stay with her.;Kayoko thinks about the proposition, but in the end, doesn't go out with her or move in with her. Kayoko moves into her own place (borrowing money from her siblings) and Fuku gets married. Fuku ends up in Kayoko's place on her wedding night, however. Apparently after all the planning and excitement of the wedding, she wasn't sure anymore about why she was getting married. Takahashi, in the meantime, is living and working on a bee farm after running away from home. He's trying to forget about Kayoko by living a completely new life. The daughter of the farmer Takahashi works for has a crush on him, which makes him think about Kayoko again, making him realize all he was doing was avoiding thinking about her, but hadn't actually forgotten about her. Then, he gets stung by a bee, and is in the hospital for several days. He ends up okay, but his memory.
