Publisher's Synopsis
Background - Handbooks in Research MethodsThis whole project stems from research carried out via discussions with academics both sides of the Atlantic. Whilst there are many textbooks on the market looking at research methods in general (such as our own Real World Research by Colin Robson) together with many journal publications, there do not seem to be books on the market which look at the practical how to and theoretical interpretations and implications of research methods for sub-disciplines in psychology. This series aims to bridge that gap by providing psychology researchers with a definitive research based reference work for each of their own specific subject areas.;Proposed Handbooks in the series are:A Handbook of Research Methods in Developmental PsychologyA Handbook of Research Methods in Social PsychologyA Handbook of Research Methods in Experimental PsychologyA Handbook of Research Methods in Industrial and Organizational PsychologyA Handbook of Research Methods in Health PsychologyA Handbook of Research Methods in Clinical PsychologyFollowing the Blackwell Handbook model, leading researchers will be asked to contribute a chapter on their own area of expertise.Main blurb (for internal use only - CHECK BEFORE USING IN PRINTED PUBLICITY):A definitive need for a handbook of research methods in healthl psychology/beahvioral medicine exists. This need stems from four sources. First, a scholarly and comprehensive health psychology/behavioral research methods handbook does not exist. Second, health psychologists are very interested and active in publishing methodological research. Third, the general psychology research methods handbooks are deficient and insufficient for psychologists researching in their own specific areas. Finally, psychology, by its very nature, is a research-based discipline. Proposed Table of Contents1.;Disciplinary Perspectives on Health Psychology/Behavioral MedicienA. MedicineB. Public HealthC.
