Twenty-three-year-old Hailey Cain had failed to graduate from the United States Military Academy. Then, following a tragic accident, she's forced to leave Los Angeles. Now working as a bike messenger, she agrees to help an old school friend to drive a naive teenage girl home to her family's village in rural Mexico. It seems an easy job, but on an isolated highway, rider and passenger are ambushed by seven heavily-armed men. Hailey is shot. The girl disappears. Hailey finally recovers - and everything she thought she knew is wrong. The smart thing would be to go home and lick her wounds in private.
