Publisher's Synopsis
Nowadays, urban regeneration of public housing faces a crucial - but also controversial - phase in the European countries. This book is inspired by a research by design initiative, applied to the case study of Tor Bella Monaca district in the city of Rome, in order to define a real way forward for mass housing regeneration. The study focuses on the ground plane - the interface between open space and building - intended as the core to address and solve public housing's fragilities, starting from previous European scholars' and designers' experiences.
