Publisher's Synopsis
This book concentrates on the principal in-situ mechanical and grouting techniques in use in Europe and North America for the improvement of the engineering properties of ground. A chapter is devoted to each major technique and reviews the history and development of the process, its applications and limitations, design concepts and plant used. Each technique is illustrated by current case histories, supported by photographs and diagrams. A number of the techniques discussed are finding increasing use in the emerging field of environmental engineering (particularly in in-situ remediation of contaminated sites). One chapter has been devoted to this topic, thus enabling the book to look to an expanding future market.
