The third of a trilogy, this novel tells of when Chris and her son Ewan move to the industrial town of Duncairn. Ewan's outrage at the injustice in society soon involves him in political action, and periods of violence and disillusionment. The other two novels are "Sunset Song" and "Cloud Howe".
