Publisher's Synopsis
Brooklyn's a bustling city decked out with walkable rooftops and balconied apartments: the perfect landscape for all the action that usually comes with Charles whenever he sets out on a mission.
This time, he's in the year 2018 to stop a political assassination, which sounded pretty by-the-book in his mission-briefing. But what he doesn't know is that this one's the mission where his world gets flipped upside-down. Charles begins to talk to a civilian of 2018: a person from another time than his.
When the man made to 'save the day and die' is seen by the woman trying to 'live life to its fullest', his purpose for living gets thrown into a redefining loop, and Charles finds himself in a mix of worry and confusion as the world he's meant to save calls him to live in it as well.
But there's a guy on her apartment hall who in fact seems just as lonely. She's sure her friendliness and overall charmingly awkward personality should be enough to get him to come around. She's fine with making friends with a random guy, only as long as he's not a weird dude.
Little does Nat know that this Charles figure- a man with no family, friends, or last name for that matter- is the key to a much larger world beyond not only her city or her year, but her existence itself. Curiosity and commitment take on secrecy and isolation in an all-new, unexpected and unanticipated adventure across time and space.
