A biographical account of this key figure of the eighteenth-century British antislavery movement. The author, Edward Charles Ponsonby Lascelles (1884-1956), was himself descended from the prominent family of Barbadian plantation owners and slave holders.

1928, pp. viii, 151, 8vo, original blue cloth, lettered in gilt to upper board and backstrip, the latter with a few spots, edges untrimmed and largely uncut, dustjacket with a striking design by 'Hawes', a couple of light handling marks, the backstrip panel sunned and chipped at head, a little chipping at corners, ownership inscription to front pastedown, very good
