Publisher's Synopsis
The present work shows that contrary to the widely accepted interpretation, it is not Jesus as the Christ and "Son of God" that is at the center of the Gospel of Mark, but its preaching related to God and his rulership. The concept of faith, the miracle stories, the parable and the motive of the disciple's misunderstanding are theological - not Christological! - designed. They call for one to get involved in the possibilities of an eschatologically changed and changeable reality, which implies Jesus' message of the fulfillment of time and the nearness of the rule of God.
