Publisher's Synopsis

Why did the AIDS virus, supposedly an African animal disease, strike the USA population so disproportionately? Britain, France, Belgium, Spain and Portugal still have extensive links with former colonies on the African continent with thousands of visits made by businessmen and tourists every year. However, at the outbreak of the virus the USA had ten times the number of victims compared to Europe, despite the fact that Americans do not visit Africa in large numbers. And why did two different strains of the virus appear almost simultaneously on the American mainland? This well-researched book goes a long way towards explaining these mysteries. The novel describes how two inmates undergoing medical trials in prison are unexpectedly released into the community where they are suddenly free to release and spread the deadly virus they have been infected with. It describes the desperate measures undertaken by the authorities to curtail the infection, which includes the killing of persons connected to the prison project. Examples are given of how contracting the disease can have a devastating affect on individuals and families. Pete Taylor, one of the two released prisoners, travels to Nigeria and Morocco in a vain attempt to escape the clutches of the dark government forces pursuing him. The author utilises his considerable experience of working in Africa and America to bring to life the areas where the action of the book takes place. His description of everyday life in Nigeria and Morocco may come as a surprise to many.
