With his partner preparing to retire, Detective Frank Palmer has subsequent plans to relocate with his wife, Francesca, forever departing the city with the chalk outline around its conscience.
When the department receives a blood-scrawled letter of poetry composed in honor of a monument constructed in God's Acre, the clues contained within lead Palmer to the discovery of a macabre cemetery murder scene.
Another letter soon arrives, and Palmer remains tethered to the case in a desperate race against time to stop the killer from claiming another victim, learning that devils do indeed exist in the forms of men - even before his fateful encounter with Mortuary.
