Publisher's Synopsis
A book in the making for more than twenty-five years Reverend Douglas Hadley reflects on his experiences as an unlikely, untraditional, ordained minister in the United Methodist Church. His stories are funny, enlightening, sad, inspirational, and thought-provoking. He shares what it means to be called by God and how one walks away from such an esteemed vocation with an anti-climactic retirement party. This book is for the churched and unchurched alike if you want to: - Laugh and feel good about life. - Get a realistic view of humanity and the Church. - Discover God in unlikely people and places. - Be challenged and inspired to make a positive difference in the world. Hadley hopes this book will generate open-minded discussions both inside and outside of the church to help people come to a better understanding of themselves, others and the world as a whole. Bio Douglas Hadley left the ministry to pursue his passion as a writer, humorist, speaker, and traveler. God has led him down many paths on the way to where God wants him to be. As Douglas has noted, "Many doors have been opened and many doors have been closed, but then again that is what doors are designed to do." He spent his entire ministerial career in the northern half of Indiana but now resides in North-Central Texas where he allows his inner cowboy to be released. He admits this means nothing more than wearing cowboy boots occasionally. He is a husband, father, and grandfather of four grand-daughters. He has three books: The Seven Wonders of Your World (Eloquent Books & soon to be released in e-book format), God Has Left the Building and coming soon, Road Kid: Adventures of a Young Hobo.
