Publisher's Synopsis

Armani means more than just beautiful clothes; it has become a myth in its own right. But can this be captured on film? To mark the 25th anniversary of the label, the New York Guggenheim Museum invited 25 leading fashion photographers to present their visions of Armani. The photographers included many illustrious members of the profession: from David Bailey, Pamela Hanson, Peter Lindbergh, Raymond Meier and Herb Ritts to Ellen von Unwerth and more. These names alone point to the wide-ranging spectrum of attitudes and vision in the resulting photographs. Some photographers chose to give their work a surreal air, others created rigorously formal pieces, while yet others concentrated on producing apparently spontaneous snapshots. This volume of photographs presents all the works made for the occasion, which in turn provide a unique overview of important currents and trends in fashion photography today.
