Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is a prevalent condition characterized by elevated blood sugar levels during pregnancy. It poses significant risks to both the mother and the fetus and increases the long-term risk of developing type 2 diabetes. This narrative review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of GDM, encompassing its epidemiology, risk factors, pathophysiology, diagnostic criteria, complications, management strategies, and prevention approaches. Furthermore, the review highlights recent advancements in the field and identifies key areas that require further research to enhance our understanding and management of GDM
