Gerard "Gerry" Adams, born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on 6th October 1948, is an Irish republican politician, the president of Sinn Féin political party and a Teachta Dála, a member of the Irish parliament, for Louth, since the 2011 general election. From 1983 to 1992 and from 1997 to 2011, he was an abstentionist Member of Parliament of the British Parliament, for the Belfast West constituency.
